Milan March 18, 2020 – To help prevent the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus, Fondazione Fiera Milano has established a new Fund to raise capital and resources to support construction of a hospital in Portello Pavilions 1 and 2 at Fieramilanocity
The Fund was established under the purview of the Fondazione di Comunità di Milano Città, Sud Ovest, Sud Est e Adda Martesana Onlus.
Dipping into its reserves to allocate one million euro, Fondazione Fiera Milano was the first donor to the new Fund, whose goal is to raise money, especially from businesses and financial institutions.
Fondazione Fiera Milano is well-positioned to promote fundraising among companies and Groups that – in light of the crisis – will want to commit resources to the project or contribute to financing it with special projects.
The target is large companies, multinationals, financial institutions, legendary Milanese and Lombardy business leaders – among the first to step up, with an individual donation, was Diana Bracco, President and CEO of the Bracco Group.
“Given the close relationship between Fondazione Fiera Milano and the local business community, and in keeping with our mission – states Enrico Pazzali, Chairman of Fondazione Fiera Milano – we believe it is essential to offer practical support by raising capital through the economic system that has the resources to contribute to this key project”.
“Fondazione di Comunità di Milano Città shares Fondazione Fiera Milano’s commitment to battle the coronavirus pandemic”, remarks Giovanni Azzone, President of Fondazione di Comunità di Milano Città. “We carry out our role in support of the region and the community, providing assistance with the dedicated Fondazione Fund, a highly-effective tool and a hub of solidarity for those who would like to contribute to the construction of the Portello pop-up hospital”.
“Right now, we are in the trenches – explains Guido Bertolaso, Lombardy coronavirus consultant – to help solve a situation that requires all the experience gained during other catastrophes. To achieve the goal set, along with the Lombardy Region, in support of the entire national economic system, we are engaged in an extremely complex operation that calls for absolute participation and support from the entire population. This is why we are asking all those who can to make a tangible contribution”.
By launching the Fund, Fondazione Fiera Milano further expands the array of initiatives implemented in support of the actions the Lombardy Region has taken during these difficult weeks.
Indeed, in addition to the Fund, Fondazione has provided Portello Pavilions 1 and 2 (for a total of 25,000 square meters) where Fondazione Fiera Milano’s technical staff and the employees of Nolostand (a Fiera Milano SpA Group company), are already working around the clock to set up the first prototypes of the hospital modules in record time.
Fondazione Fiera Milano has also donated, in gratuitous bailment, a new 10,000 square meter warehouse located in close proximity to Fieramilano Rho. The warehouse is being used as the collection and distribution center for all the healthcare materials coming in to hospitals in the Lombardy Region.
