FONDAZIONE FIERA MILANO UNVEILS THE HOSPITAL MODULE FOR COVID-19 PATIENTS IN PORTELLO PAVILIONS 1 AND 2

Milan March 16, 2020 – Joined by the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, this afternoon Enrico Pazzali, Chairman of Fondazione Fiera Milano, showed the press Portello Pavilions 1 and 2 at Fieramilanocity made available as part of the plan to manage the coronavirus crisis. They also unveiled a prototype (built by Nolostand, a Fiera Milano Spa Group company, with the assistance of Fondazione Fiera Milano’s Technical Department) of the pop-up hospital module.

In view of the needs announced by the Lombardy Region, special modules/containers are being erected in the more than 25,000 square meter large surface area of Pavilions 1 and 2. They will be custom-equipped to accommodate up to 10 patients each – 4 for intensive care and 6 for step-down care. In all, approximately 400 hospital beds will be provided for the care of patients affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.

“As it has done for the last 20 years, in this time of need, Fondazione Fiera Milano stands alongside the institutions in service to the region – remarked Fondazione Chairman Enrico Pazzali – and it is in this spirit that,  in close cooperation with the Lombardy Region, we offer our experience, know-how and facilities to help cope with the health crisis”.
